“Secrets in the Forest” is a 5 minute short documentary that has inspired me to produce a longer somewhat similar version. You will see periodic updates as to how the longer version is progressing and short segments of the women who are participating. You will also see some of the research influencing my work.

This short raises several issues, but what I like most about it is that it honored mothers and grandmothers. One of the issues that stood out for most viewers was the aspect of rape, which can take on many different forms. I am going to explore the different types of abuse and/or rape that women of all colors have overcome. In other words they found a way to rise above the situation or as my Dad would of said, “Mind over Matter”.

After careful consideration I chose to remove the five minute short from traditional distribution because I want it to reach more people. The distributor was Moving Images, who specialized in marketing to educational institutions and it has been purchased by several universities and colleges in Canada. I am now using this trailer or short as a trailer.
